Expanding Care to The CNMI
If you’ve been following along, you’ve heard us mention Saipan and the CNMI, but what does that even stand for? The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands is a U.S. commonwealth composed of fourteen islands, the most populated being Saipan (the capital), Tinian, and Rota. Although our efforts are mainly focussed and limited to Saipan, we have been able to help facilitate spay and neuter clinics as well as rescue/support the rescue of dozens of animals on Tinian. In our many years of rescue, we have never been able to take Boonie Babies to Rota, until now.

Participants in our “Pong for Paws” beer pong fundraiser on Tinian. All proceeds raised help cover spay and neuter surgeries for the Tinian community. Its important to note, Aria and I took first place.
This week in collaboration with Saipan Humane Society and The Banfield Foundation, Boonie Babies headed south to help conduct a spay and neuter clinic on Rota. Also known as Luta, Rota is the southern most island of the CNMI but don’t worry, it still only takes about 30 minutes to fly there on a six seater. The team is just getting started and we are so excited to be a part of expanding access to this critical veterinary care.

Boonie of the Week
![]() ![]() | Meet Chewy!People always ask us where we find all our dogs and our response is always, “they find us”. As a puppy, this little lad stumbled into our friend Isa’s yard and from the second they met, both knew it was meant to be. Isa and her partner Ben faced MANY obstacles to ensure that Chewy could be a part of their family (for starters living in a house that didn’t allow pets). When it came time for the two to leave the island, leaving Chewy behind was not an option so they began the long journey of getting Chewy to his forever home, Sweden! We are proud to say that after LOTS of struggles, tears, and hard work, this fluffy Boonie is finally with his people where he belongs. Hey hey from Sweden! 🇲🇵🇸🇪 Have a rescued animal? Submit their story to us via email at [email protected] to see them featured as “Boonie of The Week’! You do not have to have a Boonie or even a dog, just a rescued pet. We love to read and share their stories, please submit their stories and pictures today. |
