Walk Your Dog

Get your steps in and help dogs in need

In partnership with

B.B. volunteer Emily walking “Boy Dog”. This stray wondered up to our house in bad shape. He was euthanized after testing positive for heart worm due to the lack of options and cost of treatment on Saipan. This photo is from hist last day, which we made sure to fill with endless love and treats.

Boonie Tails

Those Paws Were Made For Walkin’

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, approximately 59% of dogs in the U.S. are overweight. A simple way to not be a part of this statistic? Walk your dog! Not only does walking your dog positively impact their physical and mental well being but it also improves your own as well. Even just ten minutes a day can make a difference. Don’t have a dog, no problem! So many shelters have programs in place to loan you one for the afternoon, we call ours “Borrow a Boonie”! Although every dog is sure to love a special outing, no dog will appreciate it more than a shelter pup.

Whether you are a dog owner or not, we encourage everyone to get involved with a shelter near you. Taking these dogs for outings dramatically increases their chances of getting adopted and is sure to leave you feeling happier and healthier too!

Bringing a dog into your life is wonderful—but the demand for “purebred” dogs drives harmful breeding practices.

Popular breeds like French Bulldogs and Pugs face painful health problems due to intense inbreeding. Some can’t even reproduce naturally, which is heartbreaking.

Choosing to adopt from a shelter helps break this cycle. Shelter dogs—often healthier mutts—are waiting for loving homes. If you want a specific breed, breed-specific rescues exist to help dogs already in need.

Breeding dogs to endure these conditions for looks is wrong. Will you join Care2 in pledging to adopt instead of shop? Together, we can give dogs better lives and end the cruel demand for inbred puppies.

Meet Rylee!

Story Submitted By Tara

I remember the moment that I first saw Rylee. It was at Aria’s house amongst a group of dogs. She was pretty much cowering in a corner and I pointed straight at her and said that one that’s the one I want. To be fair at this point, I just fell in love with the look of her but her personality has won us over time and time again since.

She was skittish and fearful and distant, but something about her had me convinced she was the one out of dozens and dozens of dogs that had to come home with us. She definitely made us work for her love but I think that’s what makes it all the more special.

I’ll never forget the portable charger that she destroyed the first night we let her sleep in our room, or walking back into the house to her standing on the kitchen table, licking our dinner plates clean. But amazingly enough, she hasn’t been naughty ever since - she’s truly been the perfect girl.

She’s been the most amazing big (little) sister to her brother Jax, our VERY dog selective 8-year-old Chihuahua. Watching their bond grow has made us love her even more.

On top of that, Rylee has been amazing with the 15+ foster dogs we’ve welcomed into our home. Whether they want a playful buddy or a calm companion, she always seems to know just what they need. She’s goofy, sweet, awkward and full of heart — and we truly wouldn’t trade her for the world.

This story was submitted by Tara, a former B.B. volunteer from 2022. Tara and her now fiancé Trent stayed with us for about a year during the early days of Boonie Babies, traveling to Saipan all the way from Canada. We are so grateful for their continued support and involvement when it comes to saving the Boonies! Thank you for your dedication to helping animals in need wherever you are as well as being our life long friends.
