The Update We Didn't Want
Saving those we can in honor of those we can't

Toulouse Tangerine
Last week we introduced you to Mr. “Feral” Kitty, a stray cat who needed help, but just wasn’t quite sure how to ask. Lucky for him, the island’s two most gullible girls walked by, found him, and immediately came back with a trap. Very similarly to him, we didn’t quite know how to help, but we would try.
He is now dubbed Toulouse Tangerine, named after the spicy orange kitty from ‘The Aristocats’ and “Tangerine” due to his budding orange color. Our feral kitty turned into a loved boy within 48 hours and was on his road to recovery. Despite being so sick, he maintained an excellent appetite and was always happy to see us. He took medication and started to improve, until what we refer to as the “crash” began. One day, Toulouse Tangerine was up walking around, and purring between gulps of his pate. The next morning, he couldn’t even stand. Without a vet, there was nothing more we could do, so we consulted with the cat expert, Wayne. After a discussion of his options, we scheduled a euthanasia appointment for him the next morning. Toulouse Tangerine died in our home that night, February 14, before he could make it. The day before, he enjoyed his very first bath, purring the entire time, so that he could spend his last moments, and probably some of the first, clean, comfortable, held, and loved.

A happy kitty after his bath
Every day, we see influencers sharing happy rescue stories and although we are so happy for those animals, it’s heartbreaking that ours are rarely afforded the same luxury. Everyone loves a happy ending, but even the rescues who will likely not have one deserve love, and just as importantly, for their endings to be shared too. Thank you for loving Mr. “Feral” Kitty with us.
Sharing the Love
Toulouse Tangerine passed away on Valentine’s Day and although it adds even more heartbreak, it couldn’t be more fitting. This cat waited his entire life for love and was finally at peace once he found it. We may not have been able to help him, but there are so many other cats we still can. To help Wayne with cat care, please checkout his Amazon Wishlist by clicking HERE or click HERE to donate directly to Boonie cat and dog spay and neuter efforts. Thank you for your continued support of helping us save the Boonies! And don’t worry, Aria has already found another Boonie cat in need of assistance.
Thanks to all of you, we have raised nearly $2000 for Mort’s Campaign, our personal wishlist was almost bought out, and I had to restock Wayne’s Wishlist. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
