The Boonies are back!
Hello and welcome back to Boonie Tails! We hope you missed us because we sure missed you! Often times in rescue, the “to do” list can become overwhelming, especially when your rescue is located on a remote island with little access to veterinary care and your entire organization is ran by just you and your sister. The tasks split between Aria and I consist of managing day to day care of our rescue facility (lots of poop scooping), rescue missions across the island, community outreach, running all social media accounts (you have no idea how long it takes to make a TikTok), attending euthanasia appointments, training sessions, and lets not forget having jobs to support ourselves. With so much going on, we took a break to prioritize other aspects of Boonie Babies and our own personal lives/mental health. We have loved getting to write Boonie Tails and discuss issues more in depth with all of you and look forward to getting back to our regularly scheduled content (minus TikTok). Happy New Year!
If you or anyone you know would be interested in writing a Boonie Tails article or would like your Boonie to be ‘Boonie of The Week’, please email us at [email protected]

The TikTokaplyse and Boonie Babies
If you follow Boonie Babies, statistically speaking it is probably through TikTok. The social media site has a vast majority of our followers (533k versus 31k for Meta platforms Instagram and Facebook). This has been great for our growth and monetization, mostly due to Meta having extremely low monetization rates and algorithms less helpful for growth. The problem we face this week at Boonie Babies is the legislation forcing the deplatforming of TikTok in the United States, which took effect 1/18/25. If you don’t already follow us on Instagram or Facebook, now is the time!
We know to a lot of people this may not seem like a big deal but many creators like us our losing a huge source of income and the community that they worked to build. Over the years, not only did my sister and I grow up on TikTok, but we started and grew Boonie Babies into what it is today through it. Without TikTok and social media, we were just two girls with no money, a lot of passion, and a few bags of dog food. The platform gave us a voice, which in turn gave voice to all the forgotten and neglected animals. When working in such a hard and often times depressing field like rescue, it’s easy to feel alone. Because of TikTok, we were not alone. TikTok allowed us to share our lives and stories with literally millions of people around the world in a way that no other platform did. With our “silly” videos, we raised thousands of dollars, opened and funded spay and neuter clinics, provided access to veterinary care, rescued hundreds of dogs, and made an unimaginable difference on our islands. Because of TikTok, Boonie Babies is not just a dream, but a reality, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Although TikTok is what put Boonie Babies on the map, your continued support is what makes our mission possible. We are forever grateful for the opportunities, experiences, laughs, memories, and people TikTok has given us but look forward to continuing to share our lives with you across other platforms, thanks for following along. Boonie of the Week
Meet Bella, the dog that put Boonie Babies on the map and launched our TikTok career! After weeks of driving past this emaciated, chained dogs and her pups, Aria decided to take a detour one morning on her way to school and snatch this little family. At only 16, Aria marched up to the door in the pouring rain to negotiate this dog’s freedom. After posting footage of the harrowing rescue, Bella and her surviving pups went viral, gaining more than nine million views over night!
Bella went on to be adopted on island and her story inspired millions to follow along and support our mission, starting the Boonie Babies legacy.
