Boonie Book Club

As with any job but especially rescue, it’s important to take time for yourself. One of our favorite ways to do this is to sit down with a good book, extra points if there’s a pet near by to share the peaceful moment with. I am currently reading ‘This Dog Will Change Your Life’ by Elias Weiss Friedman or as you may know him, “The Dogist”. With nearly eight million followers on Instagram, Elias has built his brand by photographing dogs walking the streets of NYC and sharing these simple and authentic moments with his audience. As a devoted Instagram follower and dog lover, I decided to show my support and order the book.

Although I was completely sold around chapter two when Boonie dogs were mentioned, the book has continued to be heartfelt, engaging, and overall just a fantastic read that sheds an important light on the rescue community. If you have a dog, do not miss out on this book as Elias puts into words the incredible bond we share with our companions. From our puppy mill terrier to every rescue we have had the privilege of saving, they have all changed my life, something I’m sure every pet owner can also attest to. This book is an excellent summer read, blending important issues and feel-good moments guaranteed to inspire dog lovers and non pet owners alike.

To join our unofficial book club, click HERE to read on Kindle or order your hard cover copy HERE. Although we earn commission from Amazon by linking the book, it is not a paid promotion, just our genuine recommendation. If you make this your next read, please let us know what you think!

(P)updates

You may remember Kai as ‘Boonie of The Week’ from a few weeks back as the male dog who had befriended two small pups and refused to let them go without him. A follower was extremely moved by his story and had donated $2000 to sponsor his flight to the mainland. Despite his charming rescue story and sweet personality, Kai has received 0 adoption interest. Please help us find this deserving dog a home by sharing his story with anyone you may know interested in having their very own Boonie. Kai can be shipped anywhere on the mainland U.S. and Canada. For more information about Kai and the shipping process, please DM us on instagram or send an email to [email protected]

Hot Girls Rescue Dogs (are you sick of us yet?)

In 2022, we started the slogan “Hot Girls Rescue Dogs” in response to negative online hate we were receiving. This past year, our catch phrase has taken the rescue community by storm, the only problem is it’s on someone else’s merchandise. Not only are they not even a rescue, but the t-shirts cost $45! We have decided to go back to our roots and recreate the ‘Hot Girls Rescue Dogs T’, this time with a more simple look.

Boonie of the Week

Mindy, Grandma’s late dog

Piper

Meet Piper!

Piper was rescued by our great grandma Barbra from a shelter in Colorado Springs. After losing her companion Mindy of fifteen years, Grandma needed a new friend to help her cope with the grief and bring some joy back into her life. Mindy was a puppy mill dog purchased from a local pet store and although she was a great pet who lived a long and healthy life, Grandma new that the next dog she would get would be a rescue. This story really brings up the question, “who saved who”?

Piper, a small dog mix, now lives an extremely spoiled life and takes care of Grandma just as much as she takes care of her. They both are exactly what the other needed. Piper enjoys short walks with Grandma, playing fetch in the house, and having one too many treats a day (she is now on a diet recommended by us).
