Spot some Boonie Baby cameos in this Youtube mini series

Boonie Tails

A Saipan Adventure
Recently, a group of YouTubers (other than Brent Rivera, an obnoxious internet personality who filmed on Saipan and didn’t mention once where he was) created a three part series sharing their adventures of island hoping around the Northern Mariana Islands. Although the true beauty of the islands is impossible to capture on film, ‘Yes Theory’ got pretty close, putting the CNMI on the map for millions of new people.
With nearly ten million followers on Youtube, ‘Yes Theory’ travels the world pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and sharing their stories of adventure. Rather than explaining how well done these videos are, I am going to just recommend you watch them for yourself, however here’s some fun insider information!

Vlad, featured in one of their videos as the adventure guide, owns a Boonie dog that he did not adopt on purpose. One day, the dog found him and he told it to leave. The dog left, and shortly after came right back. Vlad told it that if they wanted to stay, they must be very well behaved, not bother him, and poop outside. So that’s exactly what this Boonie dog did. Vlad and his Boonie have gone on many adventures together and without any special training, the dog is extremely well behaved and perfectly well mannered. Vlad has even started his own dog treat company that we look forward to sharing more about with you soon!

Boonie of the Week: Meet Doodlebug
I know he is not a Boonie, or even a dog, but this is Doodlebug. He is my favorite rescue I have ever brought home to my dad. Over the years starting when I was very little I grew up in the country where there are often stray cats around, so I often would find an abandoned kitten and ask my dad if we could keep them. We would get them fixed and they would live at the farm to enjoy the rest of their days. I worked at an animal rescue between my college times and there was a very mean cat in one of our kennels. He could not be taken to adoption days and would growl and hiss at all of the volunteers that would come in for cat cuddling shifts. I felt terrible for him, so I would take my laptop out and just sit next to his cage to work and casually talk to him. Over many months he slowly stopped being angry and would actually come and sit closer to me.

The shelter decided that he was not going to ever be eligible for adoption, and even though we were a no kill shelter, he was not going to be allowed to stay because he wasn't able to get along with the other permanent resident cats. It was early September and I was not ready to give up on him. So once again I asked my dad if I could bring him a cat. The owner said that I could give it a go since his days were numbered at the shelter. We loaded him into a big dog kennel and off he went to the farm. I reminded him on the drive over that his life as a farm cat each day was one day longer than he would have gotten before.

After lots of hissing and no physical contact for months he seemed to decide that we were ok and started to request affection. His great joy turned out to be belly rubs and he had the softest belly. If you stopped petting him too soon, he would wrap his kitty paws around your wrist to request further pets. He never became a cat you could pick up, but there were never enough belly rubs in the world for him. He lived at the farm for another 7 years and loved every sunny day and cozy hay nap. So glad that I still have a dad that says yes to me bringing him random stray animals that need love and care.
